Some very interesting data from Census of India 2001.
1. More Number of Indians speak English then all of western Europe except UK (Total speakers more than 125 million). And is almost twice the total population of UK.
2. The number of Hindi speakers is 551.4 million!! Now this is most important data I find. This means about half of India speaks Hindi (or a similar dialect). Even more interesting is to observe that from 1 we can conclude that Hindi presents us bigger opportunities to connect then what English offers (even if you connected to whole of Europe through English it will fall short, in fact total population of North America is almost equal to this number!)
And I guess everyone can understand that this language distribution can translate into business opportunities. And I won't be surprised if the foreign players would adopt Hindi to connect to this huge mass in more effective ways while our own states and people would refuse to utilize that opportunity.
